This 1967 Mercedes came to us from a referral of a prior customer. This is a car that exemplifies the term "what lies beneath". Having been "restored" a number of years back, this old girl still suffered from neglect and rust under the shiny red paint. The owner stated he wanted no rust in the car, the chrome and woodwork to be refreshed as well as the interior of the car. A complete disassembly was done to assess all components and the car was sent for media blasting. A reasonable amount of bondo filled areas were found, a number of panels showed rusting through and the rear license panel was damaged and poorly repaired. Panel replacement and repair was thoroughly done, the body massaged back to form and painted in its original color of 050 Mercedes White. Over two hundred pieces of chrome were catalogued and sent out, the engine dismantled and all gold painted surfaces were sent out for cad plating. The wood dash was expertly refurbished by a Mercedes specialist and is currently in the process of installation along with the chrome. New leather dash, windshield surround, door panels and stow away areas are being done now. The electrical has proven to be quite an undertaking as it has seen multiple services, cutting, splices and wraps over the years. We are in assembly...essentially building the car back from a painted shell and will be adding dialogue and photos as we proceed.
